         River Guide Books & Maps

We believe the river maps and guides created by Duwain Whitis, Tom Martin and Barbara Vinson are the best on the market. They are easy to read, water resistant and very accurate.

There are 3 types of maps/guides:

Guide Books = Spiral-bound books that are offset-printed on plastic pages with plastic card stock covers. The books are waterproof and tear resistant. Guide books include mile-by-mile descriptions of campsites, rapids, and points of interest and include many photographs. There are 4 guide books currently available: Guide to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, Guide to the Middle Fork and Main Salmon Rivers, Guide to the the San Juan River, Utah and the new Guide to the Green River in Desolation and Gray Canyons, Utah. The map company (RiverMaps) is planning on coming out with 3 more guide books in 2009 = Guide to the Green and the Yampa Rivers in Dinosaur National Monument, Guide to the Rogue River and Guide to the Selway River. This website will be updated with the latest guide books and maps as soon as they are available.

Map Books = Spiral bound books that are offset-printed, but they don't have mile-by-mile text or photos - they're just maps. These map books are being discontinued and replaced with guide books in 2009. There are 2 map books currently available: The Green and the Yampa Rivers in Dinosaur National Monument and The Rogue River.

Limited Edition Map Books = Spiral bound limited edition map books are color-laser printed on water-resistant cellulose paper with a polyester core. They are quite durable and tear-resistant even when soaked. The covers are laminated with 10-mil laminating film. There are 3 limited edition map books available: Rio Chama, Escalante, and the Snake River in Hells Canyon.
